Investment Account Platform ("IAP") and Malaysian Business Angel Network ("MBAN") formed a strategic alliance in Kuala Lumpur | - | Wednesday | 20 September 2023 |
KUALA LUMPUR: "The Investment Account Platform (IAP) is a multi-bank platform that facilitates channeling of funds from investors to finance viable ventures. IAP (www.iaplatform.com) was launched on 17 February 2016 by the Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia. IAP's key value proposition is the Shariah-compliant risk-sharing investment intermediation role in mobilizing investment account (IA) in the Islamic banks. IA is premised on the risk-reward principle that promotes financial inclusion. IAP provides a wide range of projects/ ventures sponsored by different Islamic banks for the investors to invest in. In this respect, a strategic alliance with MBAN (www.mban.com.my) would necessarily expand the inclusivity of Islamic finance beyond the established financial institutions." said Joann Enriquez, CEO of IAP.
Alan Lim, MBAN President said: "For MBAN Summit 2023, we will embark on a partnership with the Investment Account Platform, where we aim to enable both parties to positively contribute to the growth of Islamic finance in Malaysia through expanding into a new market, improving product lines or portfolios, and breaking barriers to enter into other jurisdictions. With IAP providing proprietary investment ratings on the ventures, this would increase the confidence of the investors in making informed investment decisions."
Joann Enriquez added that "IAP also targets a wider range of underlying ventures such as SMEs, listed firms and multinational companies to raise funds on the platform. This differs from some other fundraising platforms which focus on enhancing the financial accessibility of start-ups and SMEs, and are typically equity-driven. IAP introduces an option of financing where ventures do not have to issue shares. Instead, ventures can now solicit investments from retail, institutional and corporate investors, giving them a finite term and a defined exit."
